(Originally posted: 2021) This year has been like no other time I can place in memory. I have had to ask myself daily to remember that through all the noise, anger, resistance and turmoil: beauty and harmony are also present.
Harmony, I have learned, takes time to evolve. In vocal improvisation, listening, experimenting, collaborating, and following the energy-in-motion, lead to tipping points of change. Change which often requires patience and the willingness to become simple with our own voice in order to listen to the collective sound, to be flexibly inventive and focused, so that we can reconnect to the energy-of-the-moment amidst what seems like cacophony.
These moments of dissonance (when big change is happening) ask us to surrender to the intuitive self who finds a way to support the whole with skill and passion – so that together we can discover evolutionary harmonies waiting to emerge.
And here’s the essence of this almost mystical process – as we stay present with a kind of longing and willingness, our collective attention transforms into moments of profound connection and inspiration: renewing belief in what is possible. I am gathering hope in my heart that this kind of longing – for Harmony, Peace, and Equality – is growing daily throughout the world.
In the meantime, here are a few mirrored images of summer flowers for your en-JOY-ment.
